71068: Rachael Nicolson

Rachael (born 1887) was a daughter of Donald Nicolson and Catherine Macaulay, 1 Crowlista. She married John Macdonald and lived at his family home at 16b Crowlista. They had a daughter, Joanna, who was born after her father John was lost on the Iolaire. As a war widow with a young child, Rachael had a small new house built for her.

She worked the croft until Joanna was old enough to help. Later on, in failing health, she went to live with her daughter and son-in-law at 8 Timsgarry.
