Ann MacAulay
Ann MacAulay, born in 1841, from Strond, Harris, was the daughter of shoemaker Malcolm MacAulay. She married bard Malcolm MacAskill of Berneray, where they lived as cottars on 7 Ruisgarry before moving to Baile. Whilst he became registrar on the island, she was a schoolmistress, later a sewing mistress and then wool spinner. They had seven children together.
Her husband became a merchant and was later the island's registrar until his death in 1903. In 1911 Ann's grandson John was living with her at Baile.
