Lexy, or more formally, Alexina, was the daughter of Kenneth MacAskill and Lexy MacKillop of 4 Ruisgarry (Tarraloch). Born in 1901, she was a pupil at Berneray School between 1907 and 1916. She became a domestic servant. Her eldest daughter was Lena.

She later married Donald Beaton, from Skye, with whom she had two daughters. Following his death, Lexy married Alexander MacKinnon of 1 Borve. Together they had a daughter.
