Catherine born c1812 was a daughter of Donald and Rachael nee Macdonald, Valtos. She was married to Norman Matheson and lived in Reef until it was cleared in the late 1840s, they then moved to Valtos.

They had five children before emigrating (c1851) to Quebec and two afterwards.
