65109: Duncan Macritchie

Duncan was the first tenant at 9 Enaclete. He came from Penny Donald, which was cleared in the late 1830s to make way for Ardroil Farm.

There seems to be more than one Duncan Macritchie in the Pennydonald area at the time – one born c1780 married to Catherine and with children Catherine, Ann and Roderick (residing Carnish 1841; Roderick emigrated to Lingwick later that year). 

He does not appear on the census in Enaclete, and the croft passed out of his family.
