64005: Malcolm Mackay
Malcolm (c1785-1869) was a son of Finlay Mackay and Henrietta Macleod, 13 Mealista. He was married to Henrietta Macdonald (or Macphail) and had six children, one Donald born 1827 died young.
In 1837, when Mealista was cleared, Malcolm and family relocated to 14 Old Brenish and in the 1849 relotting they obtained 8 Brenish.
Amongst the Seaforth Papers is ‘An account of cattle in the different farms in this part of the district of Uig’ dated 6th September 1824; Malcolm is recorded as owning 7 cattle and 6 sheep.
