64001: Duncan Buchanan

Duncan from 10 Mealista was married to Catherine Macleod and lived in Mealista until they relocated to 10 Old Brenish. They had three daughters and two sons and another two sons who lost their lives in Egypt.

Amongst the Seaforth Papers is ‘An account of cattle in the different farms in this part of the district of Uig’ dated 6th September 1824, Duncan is recorded in Brenish owning 11 cattle and 36 sheep. It also notes there were two families living on this croft.
