Neil (1791-1877) was a son of William Macleod and Margaret Macleod, Frith na Hearadh near Cliasmol, Harris. His mother died and his father married Catherine Macleod from Harris.
The family moved to 4 Old Eishken.
Neil married Margaret Morrison of 2a Leacklee. Neil and Margaret settled at 2 Caverstay and they had six children. The family were at Caverstay in 1841 and 1861 and Crobeg in 1851.
