Donald (born 1865) was a son of George Macfarlane and Mary Macleod, 10 Marvig.
He was a Sergeant in the Seaforth Highlanders with thirteen years experience when War broke out in 1914. Donald served as a Company Sergeant Major in the First World War in 14th Battalion Training Staff and his name is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
Donald married a girl from Shawbost and settled at Harland Street, Glasgow. The couple has at least one child.
