61765: John Macdonald

John (1870-1940) was a son of Donald Macdonald and Catherine Morrison. John grew up in the part of Kneep known as A Bhuaile Chlach which consists of numbers 10 and 14 (he assumed tenancy of number 14 from his uncle Donald). In 1907 John married Catherine Maciver of 3 Breaclete; they had three children.

John bought a plot of land in Miavaig (next to where the later Miavaig House was built) and built a twin-gable, corrugated iron shed from which he ran the local post office and registry. John bought the house at Miavaig after the Grants moved to Edinburgh. The Macdonalds lived in the house and the post office and registry were in an end room.
