5947: Roderick Smith
Roderick Smith (1893-1917), Post Office, Keose was unmarried. He worked in the drapery trade in South Wales before joining the 7th Camerons during the First World War. He was wounded in the right hand which necessitated the removal of one of his fingers. After he recovered he worked as a clerk behind the lines. He was again pressed into the front line and died in the field ambulance on the way to hospital after wounds received in action around Ypres in 1917.
