Roderick Macinnes
Roderick Macinnes (1920-1941) was a son of Neil Macinnes and Catherine Nicolson, 12 Lemreway.
He enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve, S/N AX20504, on December 5, 1938. His record indicates that he was 5ft 4½ in tall with light brown hair, blue eyes and a fresh complexion. Roderick was a fisherman on Stornoway registered fishing boat, the Venture when he was Mobilised on July 27, 1939.
Roderick served in the Royal Navy on HMS Verity at the Evacuation of Dunkirk. He was lost on December 13, 1941 when HMS Puckeridge was sunk by enemy action.
Roderick was aged 21. His name is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval War Memorial, the Pairc War Memorial and the Lewis War Memorial, Stornoway,
