Duncan (1831-1914) was a son of Alexander Macdonald and Annabella Mackenzie, 11 Old Orinsay.
Orinsay was cleared in 1843 and the family moved to 4 Steinish, Stornoway.
In Stornoway, in 1857, he married Catherine Maciver, 7 Steinish. Duncan and Catherine settled at 7b Steinish and they had at least six children.
Duncan’s sister Isabella married Catherine’s brother Malcolm.
