Donald (1826-1894) was a son of Alexander Macdonald and Annabella Mackenzie, 11 Old Orinsay.
Orinsay was cleared in 1843 and the family moved to 4 Steinish, Stornoway.
In Stornoway, in 1853, he married widow, Margaret Finlayson, 8 Aird Tong. Donald and Margaret settled at 8 Aird Tong and they had at least two children.
In due course 8 Aird Tong passed to their son, Alexander.
