Archibald McCallum
Archibald McCallum
Archibald (1860-1931) was a son of Hugh McCallum and Christina Scott of Kilmartin, Argyllshire. He was a pupil teacher in Kilmartin before attending the Free Church Training College in Glasgow from 1881 to 1882. He taught at Tranmere Higher Grade School, Birkenhead before teaching in Balallan from 1894 to 1898. He married Margaret Matheson from Inverness and they had nine children. After leaving Balallan, Archibald took up the position of headmaster in Ballachulish, Argyll and retired to Edinburgh in the mid-1920s.
