Finlay, born 1936 and twin brother of George, was a son of Malcolm and Mary nee Maciver, 9 Hacklete. He moved to Glasgow where he gained employment as a civil servant (Customs and excise).

After his marriage to Chrissie Joan nee Mackay they lived for a short time in Bernera then settled in Leverburgh. They had one daughter.
