John, born 1899, was a son of Angus and Henrietta nee Macarthur, 24b Valasay. He served in both World Wars; RNRT during WW1, RNR (AB) during WW2.

John spent summers on the mainland working in hotels, he also worked for a while with the Hydro Electric Board. He was unmarried.
