Neil, born 1875, was a son of Murdo and Margaret nee Maciver, 17 Tobson. He emigrated to Manitoba living first with an uncle in Carmen and later settling in Calgarry.

He was married to Sarah nee Campbell and had at least three children - Murdo, Campbell (married with issue), and Allan (married with issue).
