Donald, born 1830, was the eldest son of Angus and Christina nee Macaulay, Valtos. He was married to Ann nee Matheson, 4 Aird and settled at 18 Valtos. The family moved to Canada sometime between 1874 and 1876, and their son Alec Andrew was born there. However the family weren't satisfied there and had returned to Uig by 1878.

They raised eight children (also had an unnamed male child, born and died 20 Feb 1864 who lived only one hour)
