Alasdair Thorcaill Chaluim

Alexander Smith Macleod (1923-1998) was a son of Torquil Macleod and Christina Smith, 3 Garyvard. 

Alasdair's brother, Malcolm Alexander, drowned in the Caverstay River. Alasdair  tried to save his brother and was nearly drowned himself. He later received the Royal Humane Society Bravery Scroll.

He served with the Merchant Navy during the Second World War, he is mentioned in Roll of Honour: Pairc, Second World War.

At Stornoway, in 1955, he married Margaret Macleod, 21 Cromore. Alexander and Margaret settled in Laxdale and they had a family.
