Barbara’s family came from Kintail; she was born there. Her brother, Donald, was a shepherd at Cravadale, Harris and he was to come to Kirkibost as a shepherd but died before he arrived in Bernera. He is buried in Luskentyre, Harris.
Her mother lived at Dun in Kirkibost where her son was the shepherd. Another son Murdo was a butcher in Stornoway and once owned Dugald Macleans shop on Keith St.
