Iain Ruairidh Ruairidh

John Macleod (1900-1975) was a son of Roderick Macleod and Catherine Macarthur, 17 Cromore.

On August 6, 1918, he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve under Service Number DA21072. His record indicates that he was 5 ft 2½ in tall with grey eyes and a fresh complexion. John was immediately Mobilised and served in the Royal Navy for the last year of the First World War. Based at HMS Pembroke and aboard HMS Pactolus and HMS Nairn. John's name  is mentioned in  Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.

John moved to 20 Battery Park Road, Stornoway and at Inverness, in 1936, he married Janet Macleod, 45 Kenneth Street, Stornoway and formerly of 17 Balallan. John and Janet settled at 11 Battery Park Road, Stornoway.

John was widowed in 1957.
