Uileam Finlay
William (1858-1940) was a son of Finlay Fraser and Jane Gordon, Stornoway.
He wanted to go to sea but his father persuaded him to stay on at school. William was the first headteacher of Sandwickhill School, from 1880 until his retirement, due to having reached the age limit, on 28th December 1923.
At Holm, in 1896, William married Julia Martin of 21b Balallan. The couple settled in Stornoway and later moved to The Old House, 4 Lewis Street, Stornoway. William and Julia had ten children.
