45075: Margaret Macdonald
Margaret (1898-1987) was a daughter of Murdo Macdonald and Catherine Morrison, 14 Balallan.
She trained as a nurse at Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow where she obtained her State Registered Nurse Certificate, and at the Royal Maternity Hospital, Glasgow where she gained her Central Midwives Board qualification. She joined the Queens Institute of District Nurses in 1924 and was appointed the first district nurse in Glenurquhart in 1925.
In 1930, at the Dromnadrochit Hotel, she married Alexander Grant, a building contractor from Drumnadrochit, They resided at Lewiston, Glenurquhart. Margaret died at Abbeyfield House, Spey Street, Kingussie.
