Alexander Mackenzie

Alexander Mackenzie (1907-1979) was a son of John Mackenzie and Isabella Macleod, 6 Cromore.

He enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve, S/Ns AX14440, BX8996 and CX7875, on May 29, 1928. His records indicate that he was 5ft 4¼ in tall with fair hair, blue eyes and a fresh complexion. Alexander was a fisherman on Stornoway registered fishing boats including the Chasy. 

In 1937 he joined the Merchant Navy and made two trips to the River Plate. Around this time he was operated on for a Duodenal Ulcer. 

Alexander was Mobilised on September 29, 1938 and served in the Patrol Service in the  Second World War. Based at HMS Drake and HMS Pembroke he served until January 1940 when he was Medically Discharged.

Alexander was a bachelor.
