Mary, born c1808, was a daughter of John and Chirsty nee Macleod in Carnish. She became the third wife of Neil Buchanan and No 1 Crulivig was her marital home.
Beside the river, that ran through the croft at Crulivig, is a cairn called 'Carn bean Neill'. When milking on a Sunday, to observe the Sabbath, Mary would leave the pail of milk in an opening in this cairn until Monday.
The family emigrated to Quebec c1851 and lived first in Bury, then Whitton and eventually settled in Scotstown. They had four children.
