Neil, born c1803, was a son of Donald and Ann nee Mackay. He married three times with issue from the three marriages.
In 1851 he emigrated with his family to Quebec, living first in Bury then in Whitton before eventually settling in Scotstown.
Neil was noted for being particularly religious and God-fearing.
