Rev James Gunn
Rev James Gunn was born in Halkirk, Caithness, in 1829, son of Alexander Gunn, farmer.
He was educated at Glasgow and ordained to Cross, Barvas, Isle of Lewis, on 5 May 1853. He transferred to Uig on 25 March 1857 and lived at Baile na Cille. His time in Uig was very short, however, as he died on 20 July 1858 at the age of 29.
James was married to Margaret Neaves, daughter of James Maclaren, parochial teacher, in Reay on 9 June 1857 and they had a daughter, Mary Greenlaw Maclaren Gunn, born 1858.
