Christina was born c1815 (according to census returns, but age given on death register disputes this). She was the unmarried daughter of Angus and Mary nee Macaulay who lived in Croir. After the death of a niece and nephew from smallpox, Christina, her sister Marion and a nephew, George burnt the roof of their house and moved to Gasun for a short time before moving again to No 4 Hacklete to live on her uncle's croft. From there they moved to No 8 Breaclete to live with another relative.
