39535: Donald Macaulay

Donald lived in Gasun – he is recorded on the rent roll of September 1824. He was known locally as Domhnall Ghasun and was knowledgeable in the use of plants and herbs as remedies for all manner of illness. When he was getting on in years, he asked for a young lad to be allowed to live with him so that he could pass on his knowledge but no one was willing to do this. All of his knowledge died with him.
