Margaret, born in 1926, was a daughter of Norman and Marion Macleod who lived at 4 Croir. Margaret married John Macdonald and settled at 3 Tobson, Here, the couple earnt their livings as weavers; Margaret was renowned for the speed with which she could tie the warp threads into a loom. The couple raised a family of five children.

In the 1970s Peggy, who was by then a widow, built a house on 23 Tobson. While she worked as a warden at Dun Innes she would walk from Valasay to the care-unit every day, a round-trip of at least seven miles. After retirement she moved to Stornoway.
