3855: Murdo Macphail, Reverend

Murdo (1900-1964) was a son of Kenneth Macphail and Christina Macmillan, 19 Southside, Gravir.
As a young man he went to Glasgow to learn the trade of joinery, during the First World War. Murdo was converted and began his training for the Ministry. Murdo was the minister at Kilbrandon, Croy Inverness and Scalpay.
At Callandar, in 1931, he married Georgina Margaret Macdougall from Argyll. It is believed that the couple settled in Argyll. Murdo was widowed in 1940.
At Blythswood, Glasgow, in 1942, he married Christina Smith, 5 Calbost. The couple lived at Inverness before moving to the Free Church Manse, Scalpay.
