36267: John Macleod

John Macleod (1792-c1830) was a son of Hector Macleod and Ann Mackenzie, Valtos, Lochs. John worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company.

John’s family considered themselves the representatives of the Macleods living on the Isle of Lewis. The office of Ground Officer of the Parish of Lochs was apparently hereditary in the family. John took up the post following his work for the Hudson’s Bay Company, following in the footsteps of his father Hector; he was succeeded by his younger brother Alexander.

John did not marry.
