Angus was born in Hampden, Quebec in 1855 to Angus and Ann nee Macdonald, emigrants from Breaclete to Quebec. In 1882 he married Marian Macaulay from Milan and sometime between 1891 and 1900, moved to Williamstown, Orange County, where he worked as a quarryman. Angus was fatally injured in a powder explosion at a Graniteville quarry. He left a family of two children.
