John (1872-1904) was a son of John Macphail and Isabella Munro, 16 Gravir. His father died in 1873 and his mother married Angus Chisholm, 29 Gravir in 1876.
In Lochs, in 1899, he married Annabella Macleod, 37 Gravir. John and Annabella settled at 16 Gravir and they had three children.
