29325: Donald Macleod
Donald Macleod (born 1864) was a son of Norman Macleod and Mary Macdonald, 4 Kershader.
On March 21, 1885, he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps. He was promoted to Warrant Officer in 1899, to a commissioned rank in 1909 and to the rank of Major in 1918. Donald saw active service in South Africa in the Boer War and subsequently spent eighteen months on Foreign Service. He served in the First World War and is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
At Chatham, in 1890, he married Ann Morrison and in 1891 the couple were living at 5 Newton Street, Stornoway when they had their son, Norman George Morrison Macleod. The family later moved to Woodside Cottage, Scotland Street, Stornoway.
In 1915 the couple were living at 3 Steele’s Road Aldershot.
