William, born in June 1825, was a son of John and Ann nee Mackenzie from Gisla. They emigrated to Winslow, Quebec, where he married Annie Maciver from North Shawbost who had emigrated to Cape Breton with her parents, Donald and Ann nee Morrison. They had a family of five; Donald(1856), Anne(1858), John W(1859), Margaret(1859), Isabella(1864).
