26413: Malcolm Macleod

Malcolm Macleod (1869-1953) son of Malcolm Macleod and Catherine Maciver, 16b Laxay was a leading Seaman with the RNR during the First World War. When the Iolaire ran aground at Holm in 1919, he jumped into a small boat but as it was likely to be swamped, he made his way back to the ship and then reached the shore by way of a hawser.

He married Effie Macinnes from 11 Lemreway.
