25043: Catherine Maciver
Catherine Maciver (1884-1962) daughter of John Maciver and Margaret Macaulay, 11 Laxay was the first nurse appointed to the Lewis Hospital, Stornoway. She was then a district nurse in Kenmore, Perthshire before being appointed to the Military Hospital in Bedford in 1915 where she received a presentation from the staff and a testimonial from Lord Lucas for services rendered in getting patients out of the hospital after it had caught fire. Catherine was posted to France and worked in the St John’s Brigade Ambulance Field Hospital. She married John Arthur Jeffrey, Guildford.
