24188: Angus Finlayson

Angus  (1817-1871) was a son of Malcolm Finlayson and his first wife, Catherine Macarthur, 14 Calbost.

In Lochs, in 1840 he married Isabella Smith, 5 Calbost. Angus and Isabella settled at 5 Calbost and by 1851 had obtained 10 Calbost. The couple had seven children.

Croft 10 Calbost was one of the crofts created in the second lotting of Calbost about 1852. Angus was married and four of his children were born before he acquired Croft 10. He must therefore have been a landless Cottar in Calbost for 11 years before he became an official crofter.
