Donald William Macdonald (1893-1961) was a son of Donald Macdonald (a butcher) and Catherine  Macdonald, Lewis Street, Stornoway. He was a merchant.

At Anderson in 1919, he married Williamina Isabella Margaret Macleod from 6 Breaclete. The couple moved to Canada where he was a clerk and later served with the 13th Battalion, Royal Highlanders of Canada.

They returned to Bernera in 1928 and lived at the family home until they built Ardglas. Donald William ran a little shop from No 6 Breaclete.

He died in the Westminster Hospital in London.
