23555: Angus Morrison

Aonghas Iain Iain Mhurchaidh

Angus (1895-1977) was a son of John Morrison and Marion Macinnes, 9a Calbost.

He served in the Cameron Highlanders in the Machine Gun Corps in the trenches in the First World War and saw action at Gallipoli, Salonica, Italy and the Western Front. Angus is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.  In 1921 Angus was a Baker working for Malcolm Maclean, Bakers.

After the War Angus enlisted in the Royal Naval Reserve and joined the Merchant Navy to serve on an Armed Merchant Cruiser at the beginning of  the Second World War. He is mentioned in Roll of Honour: Pairc, Second World War.

In Lochs, in 1931, he married Donaldina Nicolson, 11 Calbost. Angus and Donaldina settled on Calbost Common and they had two children.

When all of the family left Croft 9 Angus worked the croft but still lived at Calbost Common.
