Niall Iain Iain
Neil (1893-1915) was a son of John Morrison and Marion Macinnes of 9a Calbost.
On November 28, 1911 he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve Service Number A3878. Neil was a fisherman on Banff, Fraserburgh and Stornoway fishing boats including the Unity. He was Mobilised on August 4, 1914 and served in the Royal Navy in the First World War. He was based at HMS Pembroke and survived the sinking of HMS Hermes. Neil was lost at sea, aged 22, on February 3,1915 during the sinking of the HMS Clan MacNaughton.
His name is commemorated on the Chatham War Memorial, the Pairc War Memorial, the Lewis War Memorial in Stornoway and Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
