Murdo Morrison

Murdo, son of Angus Morrison and Christina Nicolson, 4 Laxay was educated at Keose Parish School then studied at the University and Free Church College, Glasgow. He was a student missionary in Kilmarnock Free Church from 1874 to 1878, and was licenced by the Free Church Presbytery of Glasgow in 1878. Murdo’s wife was Margaret Macrae of Miavaig, Uig, where they married in 1884. Together they were to have eight children, four of whom died in infancy.

Rev Morrison served in Lawers Parish, Perthshire before being transferred to Berneray, Harris on 22 November 1888. There the family lived at the United Free Church Manse until Murdo’s death in 1928, a year after the death of his wife.
