John  (1904-1937) was a son of John Macleod and Isabella Nicolson, 8 Calbost.

On August 8, 1924, he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve, Service Number A11850. Both he and his brother John gave the 30th September 1904 as a date of birth. His record indicates that he was 5ft 10in tall, with brown hair, brown eyes and a fresh complexion. John was a fisherman on Wick and Stornoway fishing boats including the Beautiful and the Cawdor Castle. In 1926 he joined the Merchant Navy and travelled to Antwerp on the SS Laguna.

He was a bachelor and died aged 33.
