22927: Robert Walker Paterson

Robert Walker Paterson (1861-1934) was born in Dunbartonshire, and taught in Shapinshay, Orkney, before becoming the headmaster of Knockiandue School in 1901. He did not initially live in the Knockiandue Schoolhouse but lodged at 2 Laxay.

Robert was assisted at Knockiandue School by his niece, Agnes Mackay. He worked at the school until until 1926; his retirement party was recorded by the Stornoway Gazette. Robert retired to 22 Hall Street, Hamilton where he died in 1934. Robert did not marry nor have children.
