John Angus (1917-1995) was a son of Kenneth Mackay and Johanna Macleod, 7 Calbost.
He served with the Merchant Navy, Service Number R172833, during the Second World War from 1939 to 1946. John Angus was aboard the SS Cumberland when it was torpedoed and survived the attack on the SS Michael E in 1941. The survivors were on liferafts for 24 hours before landing at Halifax, Nova Scotia. John Angus is mentioned in Roll of Honour: Pairc, Second World War.
He emigrated to Australia but returned to Scotland.
At Kelvingrove, Glasgow, in 1956, he married Agnes Nicolson, 20 Lemreway. John and Agnes settled in Glasgow and they had children.
