22130: Hector Macleod
Hector Macleod (born 1759) Ships Master and Tacksman of Valtos, Lochs married Ann Mackenzie. They resided at Valtos, Lochs and had seven children. It is thought they came to Valtos from Shieldenish.
Hector’s family considered themselves the representatives of the Macleods living on the Isle of Lewis. The office of Ground Officer of the Parish of Lochs was apparently hereditary in the family. Hector’s sons John and Alexander, following in their father’s footsteps, also held the post.
