William Sydney J Evans
William Sidney J Evans (1924-1965) was a son of William S Evans and Elizabeth (Bess) Macleod, Glasgow. Bess came from 18 Balallan.
William's wife was also from Balallan. They emigrated to Australia where they had one son. William died in Australia.
He survived the sinking of the Athenia on 3 September 1939 and later in 1941 was awarded the Royal Humane Society Bronze Medal following German bombing of shipping on the Thames.
