18692: George Macaulay

George born c1729 succeeded his father as tacksman in Linshader (the tack of Callanish was later added to this and was where he lived out the later part of his life). He owned a house in Stornoway, subsequently to be the Crown Inn which continued to be known as the "Tigh Sheorais Challanais". He was a prominent figure in Lewis at that time – the ground-officer in Uig, he also supervised the kelp industry throughout the whole of Lewis.George was married with issue.
